The Night I Knew(Casa Grande Domes)

The night I knew, was October 13, 2022 around 10pm. It was about to be my 36th birthday.

My teacher had taken me and a fellow student to the Casa Grande Domes. The land was cursed by the ancient Hohokam people, sometime in the 14th century, in response to the desecration of sacred sites. Construction started in 1982, originally intended to become an electronics headquarters, though the project was abandoned and the company went bankrupt.

So the three of us arrived at the domes around 10pm. As soon as we opened our doors, we were swept over with an invisible fog. Its presence was dark and heavy. The other student had a spirit app on his phone, and as we made our way closer to the domes,

"Purgatory."

I turned my light on and 6 inches from my left foot was a deceased calf in the middle of a red pentagram.

Moments later, my teacher raised his fist in silence as we approached a bush. I notice an orange light on the horizon acting strangely. We were silent and still for five minutes before our teacher spoke. I don't remember what he said, though he never told us what made him go silent.

We walk a little further and start splitting in separate directions, while keeping each other in sight. I feel a pull to one spot in particular and as I stand still, a white orb about the size of a golf ball frantically circles my feet for 4 seconds, then vanishes. It never cast a shadow. The sky was dark that night, and no matter how hard I tried, I could not recreate the swirling orb with my watch or anything. As the orb vanished, I walked back to my teacher and told him what just happened. I was still in shock but a good sort of shock.

He handed me the talking board and we went exploring for a place to set up. I feel a strong pull towards a collapsed tunnel, so the three of us set up right where the opening would have been.

As soon as we set it down small pebbles start getting tossed towards us from the collapsed tunnel. The only thing that could have fit through there was maybe a small rabbit. We collect our supplies and head for the car. After gathering ourselves, we decide to try again, and more pebbles get thrown at us. My teacher and fellow student drew their guns at the tunnel, and we all felt something staring back at us.

We head back towards the car, throw some salt over our shoulder and leave.

The cow made me believe in the power of modern technology, the mysterious orb circling my ankles made me a believer of the other side. Up until this moment, I didn't know why I was holding onto something I didn't fully believe in. I thank the orb for revealing itself to me. It is a moment that has engrained in me why I chose the path I am on today.
